The Kimono – Between Clothing And Cultural Heritage

Nippon Connected   º

A Lecture By Maria Deutsch

For many years after 1945, kimonos were worn in Japan only on official occasions and therefore had a rather dusty image. In recent years, however, the kimono has experienced a great revival among young Japanese men and women and is now enjoying increasing popularity abroad. Maria Deutsch gives an introduction to the history and current significance of the kimono in Japan. She will then demonstrate how to put on a kimono and give some tips and tricks for handling the garment.
